May Ball 2019 – A Day at the Races!

May Ball HFHC

HFHC’s two-night May Ball extravaganza really ‘went the distance’ this year!

The ‘Day at the Races’ theme, chosen by the individuals we support, proved a huge success with racegoers arriving either in their finery as fancy spectators or dressed in colourful silks as jockeys!

Bubbles, bunting & balloons led the way to the opening stretch, with an artificial grass ‘red carpet’ welcoming punters, while the racing themed decorations, created at Day Opportunities, really set the scene.

The DJ got everyone in the party spirit, taking song requests from individuals who joined friends, family and staff to dance the night away, with handmade hobby horses and horse balloons taking to the floor!

Everyone enjoyed a delicious hog roast, with individuals able to choose their own meals from a fantastic buffet spread. Once the food was over the magic really began, with our favourite magician delighting and enthralling guests with some astounding tricks.

There were also rosettes and certificates for several competitions such as ‘best dancer’, ‘best outfit’ and ‘best jockey silk’ and it was brilliant to see the effort everyone went to. As the evening ended and the night drew in, the horses and balloons left too, a great memento from a wonderful night.

Home From Home Care supports over 80 individuals across Lincolnshire with learning disabilities and complex special needs. We work hard to organise events, chosen and guided by the individuals we support, which are accessible and enjoyable for each of the individuals to experience on their own terms. This enables them to create memories and share experiences, both with each other and also with their friends, family and wider community.

Special thanks to everyone who attended and helped over the two nights for making it such a successful event.
