Pay, purpose and prospects: rewarding job roles for students

Earn while you learn

When you’re looking for part-time work to support you through university, you’ll want a job with great pay to reward you for your good work, a real purpose that puts your efforts toward something meaningful, and outstanding opportunities for progression, with a whole career that’s yours for the taking.

At Home From Home Care, we offer all of this, and more, with flexible, rewarding job roles for students, with career opportunities that fit around your course.

Whether you’re studying towards a degree in health and social care, or something completely different, we’d love to welcome you on board.

High paying part-time work

There are a number of benefits to joining us. We pay everyone over the age of 18 a minimum of £11 per hour in their first job. Combined with attendance bonuses, paid for each successive month without an unauthorised absence, entry-level wages are the equivalent of £11.44 per hour – that’s the equivalent to a full-time salary of £23,795.

Colleagues can also secure an immediate £100 advance on their monthly pay and get paid within 24 hours of any additional shifts they choose to take on.

If you’re working part time with us on a 20 hour week contract that’s built around your studies, you could earn £12,965 per year – more than enough to cover your accommodation fees and help you enjoy yourself a little more while you’re at uni.

Compared to working in a bar for 20 hours per week, you’d be earning an extra £3,085 – and you’d also have the joy of knowing you’re making a real difference to someone’s life and setting yourself on course for a great career.

We also offer an amazing ‘Earn While you Learn’ reward scheme that’s worth an extra £3,600 over three years, or £300 every 12 weeks – just for working your shifts!

A meaningful career

What’s more, Home From Home Care offers fantastic career and development opportunities, meaning you can potentially progress into full time employment after completing your degree. Whether you choose to continue working with us, or apply your skills and experiences in another profession, you’ll benefit from continuous training and development as we invest in your future.

We offer all the training and support you’ll need to succeed, and there are opportunities for fully funded further education up to Masters level. You’ll also gain transferrable, real life skills such as communication, flexibility and empathy – and you’ll also open up new social circles with colleagues and peers.

At Home From Home Care, we have more than 900 different job roles across a huge range of disciplines which you can progress toward and we love to promote internally.

We’re an Investors in People Platinum rated employer, and nine of our homes are rated Outstanding by the CQC, putting them among the top 3.5% of care homes in the country.

A starting role with us really does put you on the track to ever greater things.

Make a real difference

There aren’t many careers where every day you work makes someone’s life a little better, but this is certainly one of them.

You’ll get to make a real difference to the lives of people with learning difficulties, autism and complex physical and mental health and you’ll share in the joy of working with them.

The people we support need kindness, empathy, patience, friendship, guidance and support. It can be challenging at times, and it can be tough but the reward of seeing a person flourish thanks to your hard work is immeasurable.
We believe that care should be a career where you can grow, develop your skills and share in the joy of doing something amazing. If you’d like to find out more about starting your journey with us, head over to our job vacancies page.
