Sensory Garden – Vicarage Lodge

Sensory Garden opening

Staff have created a sensory garden at Vicarage Lodge in memory of Ju-Li, as a lasting celebration of her life, her friendly nature and wonderful spirit, which residents and staff can enjoy for years to come.

Ju-Li’s family cut the ribbon on the 14th May and a celebration event was attended by families and those living in the Old Vicarage Micro Community. Everyone enjoyed a buffet and some bucks fizz whilst exploring the garden. A bubble machine added an extra sensory element and was enjoyed by those attending.

The garden overlooks the paddock and has been filled with the scents of herbs, colourful flowers and the sounds of windchimes. Different textures are provided by plants, wood and bricks that can be touched and residents have been out planting in the vegetable patch to be able to experience their garden through taste too. Decorative murals in the gazebo also have interactive sound buttons to play nature sounds with one showing an oriental garden, inspired by Ju-Li’s Singaporean heritage.

Thanks also go to Daniel’s parents for helping to create the garden and putting in so much effort just before the opening to make it a success and Dawn for working tirelessly to plan and implement the garden.

Vicarage Lodge would like to invite other homes to visit and enjoy the calm atmosphere and opportunity to socialise with peers.
