Three winners at the Lincolnshire Care Awards!

Winners at the Care Awards

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Home From Home Care has won three awards at this year’s Lincolnshire Care Awards!

Clair won the Social Care Nurse and Nurse Associate award, our Training Kitchen Manager Darren took home the Care Home Cook/Chef award while the Health Partner Team took home the prestigious Outstanding Care Team award. In addition, Anna secured a highly commended prize in the Care Innovator category. Fantastic results!

The Lincolnshire Care Awards is an annual celebration organised by the Lincolnshire Care Association to recognise outstanding work across the care sector in the county. This year’s ceremony took place last week at Lincoln’s DoubleTree by Hilton.

“A fantastic achievement”

Securing three awards and a commendation is an amazing result and showcases the breadth of talent, skills and passion across our outstanding team. Our managing director, Paul de Savary said:

“Winning three awards, which is a quarter of those on offer at this year’s Lincolnshire Care Awards, is a fantastic achievement. I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to Clair, Darren, our outstanding Health Partner Team and to Anna for their well deserved awards.

“We’re delighted to have won three categories and received a commendation in another, and we’re extremely proud of all of our colleagues who were finalists. In total we had eight finalists across seven of the 12 categories on offer. This showcases our dynamic model of care and the amazing career opportunities on offer at Home From Home Care with more than 90 different roles available.

“As a family run provider, we’re proud to do things a little differently from the rest of the care sector. One of those things is really looking after our team members and helping each person discover their talents, grow their skills and keep their careers rapidly moving forward. Receiving recognition from the Lincolnshire Care Awards serves as confirmation that we’re on the right track.”

An inspirational chef

Home From Home Care’s in-house professional chef Darren, who won the Care Home Cook/Chef category, has previously cooked for a number of large scale events and travelled the world catering for the likes of Beyoncé, Fleetwood Mac and a Formula One team. In his role at Home From Home Care he has started cooking workshops to teach colleagues how to prepare healthy, nutritious meals for the individuals they support and their loved ones at home.

“I’m usually the person cooking at the awards, not receiving them!” said Darren. “It’s the first time I’ve won an award like this. It was really nice to get recognised for the work I and we do with nutrition – people behind the scenes do a lot of work so it’s good that the awards notice their achievements as well.”

“There was a really great team atmosphere at the awards night, it was all such a good boost to the team.”

An award winning nurse

Clair took home the Social Care Nurse and Nurse Associate award, rewarding those who use their expertise and clinical and technical knowledge to deliver effective care.

Speaking about her awards, Clair said: “I was very shocked to win – I wasn’t expecting it! It is so amazing to be a winner and really humbling considering the other nominees I was up against who are qualified nurses”.

“It was a fantastic night, colleagues were all behind me which was very touching.”

A top team of partners

Meanwhile Home From Home Care’s Health Partner Team was named Outstanding Care Team of the year, in an award sponsored by the seven Lincolnshire District Councils.

Team member, Hazel said:

“It was good for the whole team to get that recognition – it was such a boost!

“We are helping to reduce the health inequalities that individuals with learning disabilities face in society, which is fantastic and the judges seemed genuinely interested in what we do within the Health Partner Team as it is unique to our sector.

“The awards night was such a good night, everyone had a great time.”

While Clair added:

“It’s great to get the recognition, as it is very unique what we do. We have our ‘finger on the pulse’ for the health and wellbeing of the individuals and I’m so proud of the team! Everyone is very passionate about what we do.”

A highly commended innovator

Anna, who received a highly commended award in the Care Innovator category said:

“I’ve been in the industry for three and a half years since being on the Skills for Care graduate scheme in 2019-2020. I work a lot with data, in conjunction with the carers, to provide a voice to the individuals we support.

“The Lincolnshire Care Awards evening was amazing. I’d never been to one before but it was such a great atmosphere and to see the stories of so many different services and to meet so many different people was amazing.”
