More than 400 guests enjoyed a full day of fun at our annual summer fair.
Individuals we support, as well as their friends and family from all over the country, came to the event, which was supported by local businesses and community groups.
A highlight of the year
With farm animals, welly wanging, face-painting and even a (planned) visit from a fire engine from Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue, the fair offered a packed programme of events and activities. There were also bouncy castles, a DJ, petting zoo and performances from the Home From Home Care band and choir… and not to mention karaoke!
Local catering businesses were also on hand to cook up the likes of fish and chips, gourmet burgers, pizza and more. Visitors could also try their hand at biscuit decorating, arts and crafts or enjoy a wide range of sensory items.
Held each year, our summer fair is inclusive through-and-through. The event is designed to appeal to family members of all ages and abilities so that everyone can spend time together with their loved ones and connect with others. It’s one of the highlights of our calendar and families travel from all over the country to attend.
As Linda, a parent of one of the individuals we support, said: “It’s great fun to come here…. We all come from all over and it’s great for us to mix and to meet, and our kids love it – it’s brilliant.”
“Goes to show what an inclusive society can look like”
Our Managing Director, Paul de Savary said:
“It’s fantastic to see the individuals and how they’ve been able to progress. For example, it’s been inspiring seeing a particular individual come to this event who once wouldn’t have been able or wouldn’t have wanted to come – and here he was wandering around with his three support workers and being able to socially integrate. It’s fantastic and a real testament to our brilliant staff. It just goes to show what a really inclusive society looks like.”
Locality Manager, Alex said:
“What I enjoy most about our summer fair is the great one team working to make a meaningful day for the individuals and hopefully for the families as well.”
