All the Fun of the Summer Fair!

Family eating ice cream at the Home From Home Care Summer Show

This year’s Home From Home Care Summer Fair was packed full of activities, fun, food and sunshine, with 396 guests – colleagues, individuals and their families – coming together to celebrate.

Held at Coleby village hall in Lincolnshire, the grounds were filled with entertainment to enjoy. From dancing ponies to an inflatable mega slide and sheep walking to face painting, with a great selection of food and drinks stations also on offer.

Creativity, speed & competition

One of the real showstoppers this year was a soap-box racetrack. In the lead-up to the fair, individuals and colleagues designed and built their own soapbox vehicles to test out on the track. Competition stakes were high, with crowds gathering to watch the range of soap box creations whizz down the track!

Disco beats & choir singing

Music also filled the air, with disco beats to dance to and the HFHC Choir to sing along with. The Activity Hub station was also a big draw, with sensory sand activities and bead crafts to try your hand at.

Delicious food to enjoy

Food played a big part in the festivities with a choice of fish & chips or a burger van to visit, with our in-house chef providing an incredible selection of food for specialist diets. As always, the ice cream van proved a big hit with lots of delicious flavours to choose from!

Family connections

A real highlight was seeing so many families coming together, to not only enjoy all the festivities with their loved ones but connect with relatives of other individuals in the Home From Home Care family.

Steve Cranston, Home From Home Care’s Family Liaison, commented: “It’s so important to get families colleagues and individuals together on days like this…it’s a chance to really build relationships and have fun together.”

One parent mentioned how coming to events like the Summer Fair impacted her daughter: “Our daughter is in her element! She loves to socialise, she loves to people-watch. We can see her developing socially, physically, emotionally, with all the friends that she’s made here, and all the relationships she’s made with the carers, and all the staff.”

A rewarding day!

Paul de Savary, Home From Home Care’s Executive Chairman, praised the incredible staff team saying: “It’s a lot of work. It’s much more than just a job. This is an emotional commitment and seeing people progressing, individuals, colleagues, families looking happier – that’s the value that we get out of this.”
