At Home From Home Care, we encourage our colleagues to bring their true selves to work and find a role that they’re passionate about.

That’s exactly what Karen did.

Karen was previously a self employed visual artist and illustrator and has leant her artistic talents to a number of children’s books.

Her work has included working on the illustrated children’s story books ‘Sweet Dreams’ and ‘The Big Bad Wolf and Three Little Bunnies’.

“I felt like I could make a difference”

Now, she’s bringing that passion for creativity to Home From Home Care. Karen explains:

“After the pandemic I wanted a new challenge, I saw the job online and felt like I could make a difference.

“I love that every day is different, and I can use my creativity coming up with new workshops and activities for the guys to enjoy at the activity hub.

“There’s also a great team dynamic, everyone is so supportive.”

Four promotions in a year

Working in the activity hub was a natural fit for Karen to utilise her skills, and she quickly found that niche. She said:

“In May 2022 I started as a support worker and in under a year I’ve progressed four times and I’m now an activity hub partner.”

That progression is not unusual. At Home From Home Care, we have over 90 different job roles available, and we encourage our colleagues to develop into a role that truly suits them.

Regardless of what you start off as, we support you towards reaching your goals – whether that’s working in IT, marketing or progressing to a management role, we provide fully funded training to help you get there.
